Love Art With A Passion
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
DO YOU HAVE ANY TRAINING?
"Though I never went to art college I started painting from a very early age and have painted something almost every day since. I am now a mature, self-trained artist and have had the privilege of owning a gallery in the south of Spain where over a 100 artists were featured including myself. The response from the public was astounding. I work to commission mainly, but I also have a sizeable collection of famous names already produced and ready to be sold."
"What is it about celebrities that excites me as an artist? Capturing that special magic of magical people in paint and pastel has been my special mission over these last twenty years or so.
It is my way of paying tribute to the people who because of the way they lived moved us one way or another. Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Elvis Presley and many other icons of the twentieth century are featured in my collections. Let me know if you have any special icon preference and I will see if I can meet your needs."
METHODS AND MATERIALS?
"I paint mostly using Faber Castell pastels which for me have the perfect consistency, not too hard but not oily either. I do a lot of blending with fingers, although the Anthony Hopkins was done just with a curling action of the pastel. I can paint photographically but these days I prefer a looser approach and sometimes use an abstract watercolour base to create a sense of unpredictability. I also use acrylic paints on their own.
DO YOU ONLY PAINT WITH PASTELS
"No, not at all. I love oils and acrylics too."
HOW MUCH WILL A PORTRAIT COMMISSION COST?
This depends very much on the complexity of the work. Please contact me for a quote.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO FINISH A COMMISSION?
If a work is needed urgently for a special day I will do my best to get it to you on time, but generally you should allow at least 4 weeks and quite likely 3 months for a commission to be fully finished.
Pastels and Acrylics are quick. Oils take longer.
